Google announced two interesting developments as they take search real time and with Goggles its real life and visual.
Google Real Time Search
So whats real time search? It means next time you search Google for a particular keyword it will bring back results as they happen from sites such as Twitter, new web pages or posts. This will give you the most up to date information on the web for that keyword or phrase. And its available on mobile too, which opens up countless possibilities for it. Check out this video below.
Google Googles
Now this is a very interesting development in terms of search. Its an app for the Andriod phone, also a Google product. You simply point your phone at an object and if it recognises that image it will bring back more info on it. Examples from the video below include places, paintings, business cards or anything with a logo.

Back in July I posted a video clip of the new Google Wave product (view it here). It is the next level of e-mail, which, conceptually has been around for 40 years. Wave will integrate e-mail, social networking, IM’s, and wiki’s in a collaborative manner. It will be open source, and so allows developers to create further widgets and extensions to add over time.
In September 100,000 invites were issued in a preview release. As Wave is such a ‘game changer’ Google have been actively gathering feedback from users via a survey. At the tail end of last week Google published the results;
The Likes
The concept of Wave, the collaborative element of and the integration of all communications and documents scored highest on the chart. Looking through the list indicates just why Wave is such a major development in communications, such as;
- ability to extend Wave’s functionality
- replying anywhere in a messsage
- live typing - being able to see what is being written as soon as it is typed
- editing my message after sending it
- all my communications can be integrated
- potential to integrate other applications such as Twitter
- being able to see what has changed since I last read it
- viewing the history of a ‘wave’ through the playback feature
The Dislikes
The dislikes also throw up some interesting insights to why the product is just in testing. As the collaborative element is such a core aspect, one of the biggest problems has been with Wave users not having enough invitations to give to others they can collaborate with. Other big issues had to do with speed, it crashes, not enough features, difficlut to manage the information and a dislike of live typing.
Googles response:
“With these responses and other data, we’re organizing our team around the core issues that are important to making waving better. We’re working hard to scale our systems so you can invite your friends and colleagues to wave with you. We’re also thinking about how to integrate with existing communication and collaboration tools. And since we all know that fast is better than slow, a large portion of the team is working to make Google Wave faster.”
They also encourage people to take the survey over and over to measure how attitudes and uses of Wave change over time.

more→In this video Google give a user friendly explanation of what their new Chrome OS can do. The product has been developed with todays user in mind. That is getting the fastest access to the web as possible by by-passing updates, settings and just getting straight to the browser. How? by storing all the nagging elements of your old OS on the internet as opposed to your PC.
